About Us

Jim and I would like to welcome you to JB's Santas. I started this business?? about 10 years ago. Jim with a background in art and engineering had been medically retired with multiple sclerosis in 1983; I had gone back to work in recreational therapy and decided in 1991 that he needed to do something to keep going. So I got him some clay and he started sculpting, first ashtrays then moved on up until he started making Santa heads. The sculpting has seemed to help his fine and gross motor skills in his hands along with helping their strength. About the time we had a bunch of heads and hands stored I started reading the history books(am somewhat a history buff anyway.) With what I learned about the old world traditions of this old gentleman of giving got me to making the costumes they are clothed in and to try to make them as accurately as possible.
What started as a simple therapy has brought much joy of learning about love and giving throughout time and the world. Too, how Santa, in all his various names and looks, has had an impact on how people learn sharing at the happiest season of the year.
Even though they are steeped in tradition, through Jim's hands and creativity and my needle, thread, and fabric each Santa takes on his own personality. No two of our Santas are alike even though we wish we could exactly duplicate some of them it just can't be done (by us.)
We are happy to share these "old world myths," symbolizing the giving heart, in the new world of technology so that you can see them, enjoy them and have one for you own. Thank you for visiting our site, and please sign our guestbook. Come again to visit our old giving gentleman, Santa.
